CHAPTER 1   details the background and genesis of the airframe.  Includes general   information on the transport aircraft of World War II, the future of   transportation aircraft in military operations, logistical support and   its   meaning, Air Force Logistics   Command (AFLC) and its logistical organization, WRAMA&apos;s logistical   responsibility for transport aircraft, and Major Air Command   utilization of the   C-130 transport aircraft.  CHAPTER 2 covers C-130 aircraft and its many   uses.    Comments on the model designation and features in 1963, missions flown   in 1969,   uses of HC-130E, task for WC-130 aircraft designation, work of 1958   flying   missions during international incidents, America&apos;s global airlift   capability,   airlift expansion, types of airlifts, and the history of airlift in   Korea, joint   emergency airlift operations in the Congo, Cuba, Vietnam, Dominican   Republic,   and others.  CHAPTER 3 relates WRAMA&apos;s early experiences with the C-130   aircraft.  Comments on transfer of C-130 aircraft management to WRAMA,   planning   the transfer, early problems, general view of airframe management in   1958, WRAMA   and Oklahoma City Air Material Area working together on C-130 aircraft   problems,   and WRAMA&apos;s assumption of management responsibility.  CHAPTER 4 is   entitled:   WRAMA, LOCKHEED, and THE C-130.  Talks about Georgia&apos;s industrial   giants,   aircraft acceptance, WRAMA and Lockheed modernization program,   reduction of   failure to fix cycle, versatility of C-130 aircraft during the early   years of   use, and WRAMA and Lockheed&apos;s production of B Model C-130 aircraft.    CHAPTER 6   examines C-130 aircraft in Southeast Asia (SEA) and logistical support.    United   States airlift force at the beginning of calendar year 1965, Pacific   Air Force&apos;s   first use of the airframe, Warner Robins Air Materiel Area maintenance   manpower   and facilities tasking, problems in use of C-130 aircraft due to   terrain in SEA,   manpower and aircrew problems, transportation to Southeast Asia   problems,   addition of HC-130H aircraft to the fleet, Project Bitter Wine supply   actions as   related to C-130 aircraft, and aircraft overhaul activities.  CHAPTER 7   reviews   C-130 aircraft wing repair project.  Summarizes background of wing   replacement   due to fatigue, airframe inspection program and dialogue, repair   criteria and   program, landing gear modification, contracts and program used to   repair,   modify, and replace structurally fatigued items.  CHAPTER 8 looks at   the various   domestic and other foreign users, rapid area logistic support, and C-  130 foreign   displays.  CHAPTER 9 chronicles logistical support from other Air   Materiel Areas   for C-130 aircraft.  Includes data on T-56 Allison aircraft engine   management,   gas turbine engines, starter problems, accessories support, and   requisitioning   priorities.  CHAPTER 10 addresses the C-130 gunship and mission.    Mentions AC-  130 aircraft contracts, use of the aircraft by Pacific Air Forces,   funding, and   project management.  CHAPTER 11 summarizes major developments and   lessons   learned.  Looks at primary and secondary missions in SEA, statistical   view of   logistics capabilities, supply support under the Star concept,   installation of   computers at SEA bases for airframe support, wing crack problem,   camouflage   painting, mainlanding gear ballscrews, engine struss mounts, center   wing   fatigue, operating bases, forward operating bases, and logistics   problems such   as shortages of brake parts, landing gear shortages, propeller   shortages,   instrument shortages, starters, reparables shortages (unserviceable   items),   liquid oxygen shortages, and air cycle machines.
